  5. Alan McGee and Danny O’Connor @ Upside Down the Movie Première

It was so cool to meet music icon Alan McGee and film director Danny O’Connor at Upside Down - the story of Creation Records movie première in Italy. The event was presented by Traffic Academy, an organization from the Traffic Free Festival that aims to promote independent musicians.

Upside Down - from the first The Jesus and Mary Chain single - is a journey through the ’80s and ’90s indie music produced by Alan McGee, a portrait of the lifestyle and society from the British Invasion to the Cool Britannia movements and a moving biography of a charismatic music producer.

The documentary is an astonishing collection of interviews, live shows, music videos from musicians - from The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Loft, My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream to Oasis, Super Furry Animals and more - as well as journalists and personalities from the music industry.

I also love the use of the colors and editing, not to mention the sound track that make this movie an emotional travel into a unique music experience. You can check out the trailer and news at Upside Down Movie site.

Wow! I got my program autographed by Alan McGee - who also drew sun glasses and hat on his picture, his signature look nowadays - and by Danny O’Connor, a very nice person, talked to him for a while.
